چکیده

Any polyhedron accommodates a type of potential theoretic skeleton called a mother body. The study of such mother bodies was originally from Mathematical Physics, initiated by Zidarov [2] and developed by Björn Gustafson and Makoto Sakai [5]. In this paper, we attempt to apply the brilliant idea of mother body to Electrostatics to compute the potentials of electric fields.

Performance of SST k-ω Turbulence Model for Computation of Viscous Drag of Axisymmetric Underwater Bodies

This paper presents 2-D finite volume method for computation of viscous drag based on Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations. Computations are performed on bare submarine hull DREA and six axisymmetric bodies of revolution with a number of length-diameter (L/D) ratios ranging from 4 to 10. Both structured and unstructured grids are used to discretize the domain around the bodies. Diff...

Formal grammar and information theory: together again?

In the last forty years, research on models of spoken and written language has been split between two seemingly irreconcilable traditions: formal linguistics in the Chomsky tradition, and information theory in the Shannon tradition. Zellig Harris had advocated a close alliance between grammatical and information-theoretic principles in the analysis of natural language, and early formal-language...

Modeling Elastically Coupled Rigid Bodies with Geometric Algebra

This work is an introduction to a new method for modeling elastically coupled rigid bodies, with application to modeling and computer simulation of spatial, flexural mechanisms. Geometric algebra is used in an essential way to provide a coordinate-free approach to Euclidean geometry and rigid body mechanics that fully integrates rotational and translational dynamics. Finite, elastic displacemen...

Numerical Simulation of Partial Cavitation over Axisymmetric Bodies: VOF Method vs. Potential Flow Theory

A computational study of partial cavitation over axisymmetric bodies is presented using two numerical methods. The first method is based on the VOF technique where transient 2D Navier-Stokes equations are solved along with an equation to track the cavity interface. Next, the steady boundary element method (BEM) based on potential flow theory is presented. The results of the two methods for a di...
